full-grain Artic Circle skins were originally tanned for Charles F Stead & Co. Ltd to a crusted state, in a now closed Finnish tannery sometime during the 1970s. Rediscovered amongst various crust leathers in an old storeroom they have now all been dyed and oiled to this limited range of colours.
Life in the Artic Circle is a harsh one. These skins, (Genus :Cervus ) like all the deerskin family have a dense but soft touch and as the photographs show highlight all the natural defects that are inevitable from living in such a wilderness.
